April Daniels announces ReElection Intent
April Daniels has announced that she is running to retain her position as Ashtabula County Clerk of Courts. Daniels says she is aiming to finish what she started over her short 3 year tenure, especially in the arena of technology presence in all three of her departments.
In her Legal Division, the revolutionary upgrade of her case management system that operates her office is innovating the public’s access to records, expanding new protections for victims through better redaction software, supplying cost savings to the county, and providing consistency to record keeping and data entry.
The Title Bureau has been outfitted to be a one stop shop not only for titles, but for watercraft registration and passports, as well. You can now use a credit card, completely register watercraft at the same location, and get your passport photos taken on site. Dealerships now have the ability to process titles remotely with her implementing electronic title agreements. Mrs. Daniels has also kept the tradition of purchasing some vehicles for the Sheriff’s Department with funds generated by the Title Bureau to continue to keep her community safe.
Her Archives and Ancestry Department is undergoing a significant transformation with the adoption of records imaging and the ability to store them digitally now. This change will ensure that the programs we interact with, like court records searches, will look more like the software that we use today, be faster to access, and easier to understand. Eventually, people will be able to see the documents and images for their records, which will be far more convenient.
April’s 28 years of experience in executive level management has proven to be invaluable with what she has already accomplished. April is highly familiar with negotiating corporate contracts, implementing technological advances, balancing union staff issues, and foreseeing economic fluctuations. “I have been talking and listening to the needs of my staff, and other departments that interact with us, to implement their ideas. We are on the precipice of unprecedented accomplishments that will transform the landscape of record keeping as no one has ever seen before in the Ashtabula County Clerk’s office.”
Mrs. Daniels also has an impressive education. April holds degrees from The University of Washington and Kent State University. Her education in Accounting and Business Administration reinforces her wide range of qualifications including efficient money handling protocols, information technology, and accurate record documentation. April is currently pursuing a law degree to broaden her understanding of the justice system and how to best apply her knowledge for the benefit of the county.
Though she has an impeccable understanding of practical financial reporting policies, attention to detail, and managing resources wisely, her skills are matched, if not exceeded, by her faith in God, kindness to others, and commitment to her community. April still volunteers at several local clubs, churches, and charities around the county. April founded Amber Place in 2014, which teaches individuals basic life skills, reconditioning techniques, and upcycling.
Additionally, Mrs. Daniels serves as the President of the Ashtabula County Republican Women and serves on several County committees, such as, Databoard, Investment, Records Commission, and Corrections. April is actively involved in the Ohio Clerk of Courts Association having been elected, and selected to committees on which she has been honored to serve like, Education, Executive, Title, Audit, Bylaws & Constitution, and Chair of District 8 for a couple years.
